Borussia is the protectress or goddess of fortune of the northern Germans, the Prussians (and that was before the Prussians and the Bavarians came together to form one Germany many years back)… Today this word is annexed to some sport teams like Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach, very famous football teams in Germany.
The decision to come to Cebu to settle for good of Juergen and Chuchi (a Cebuana) opened the door to the putting up of a restaurant carrying this name... That was in 1997 October. The restaurant has existed since then, starting with just a small house turned into an authentic German restaurant in Cebu City. After a few months, Jurgen started to work out his skills as a German master baker and started baking for a few expats who spread the word for good European breads... It didn't take long.
After changing venues four times in pursuit of a better location and a better rental agreement which was in vain, BORUSSIA moved to the northern province of SOGOD where they have settled since 2003.
God's favors have been following Jurgen and Chuchi and now it is a very good "pit stop" for many northern travelers from the metropolis, and a good rendezvous and venue for many city folk escaping the hustle and bustle of Cebu City. Locals are now visiting the restaurant and are very happy to not to have to go far to the city to experience some foreign food. Borussia also serves some Italian and Filipino specialties as well. The breads have also been best-sellers since the city days, with deliveries to Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City on Tuesdays and Fridays.Jurgen and Chuchi are very blessed to have their restaurant in paradise. Having guests from all over brings them great pleasure and joy. The Borussia staff are eager to serve you during their business hours from 7:30am to 7:00pm Mondays through Saturdays.
